CAC Grammar School @ 60: Eminent Nigerians Celebrate the School’s Legacy of Excellence and Impact
In a momentous celebration, CAC Grammar School Akure marked its 60th Anniversary, a milestone that commemorates the institution’s legacy of producing men and women who have excelled across all fields of human endeavor globally. From March 24 to 30, a week-long series of events took place, bringing together alumni with a deep sense of nostalgia and pride for the school that shaped their futures.
The anniversary celebration was an opportunity to reflect on the school’s profound impact, while also looking forward to the future. It began with a grand rally, followed by a thought-provoking public lecture, and a series of interactions with old classmates. The air was filled with joy, as former students reunited to celebrate their alma mater’s enduring influence on their lives.
Among the distinguished alumni who spoke during the celebrations, Mr. Olowookere Abiodun, representing the 1990 set, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the institution that laid the foundation for their achievements. Olaniyi Oladimeji, Secretary of the 1995 set, fondly recalled the early days of their journey, emphasizing the enduring bond forged through shared experiences at the school.
Mr. Taiwo Adeleye, Chairman of the 1995 set, echoed similar sentiments, praising the school for not only providing academic excellence but also fostering a strong sense of community. Ayegbusi Olayinka, Chairman of the 1983 set, proudly declared that alumni of CAC Grammar School have always been committed to giving back to their alma mater, and they will continue to do so in the years to come.
Mike Adeyemo Adetumobi, the National Vice President of the Old Students’ Association of CAC Grammar School Akure, was visibly elated as he reconnected with his school friends, reflecting on the enduring bonds that remain despite the passage of time. “It’s a joyous occasion to meet with old friends who have made a mark in various professions,” he said, clearly moved by the reunion.
Olumurewa Kolawole, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and a member of the 1984 set, highlighted the theme of the anniversary lecture: “Appreciating the Past, Focusing on the Future.” His words captured the essence of the celebration—a time to honor the legacy of the institution while embracing the promise of continued growth and impact.
Prophetess Yemisi Olusoga, from the 1982 set, shared a powerful reflection on how the school nurtured a deep spiritual foundation, shaping students to be leaders and pace-setters in their respective fields. Deacon Henry Ige, also from the 1982 set, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Though we have left the school, the school has never left us.”
Akinwumi Michael Olagoke, Chairman of the 60th Anniversary Celebration and President of the Contributory Pension Scheme in Ondo State, proudly declared that the education provided by CAC Grammar School had equipped them to succeed in their various professions. “We are well-prepared for the challenges of life, thanks to the foundation laid here,” he said, affirming the school’s role in shaping accomplished individuals.
The celebration also included the honoring of individuals who have made significant contributions to the school’s continued growth and success. The atmosphere was one of deep gratitude, reflection, and anticipation for the future as the school community united to celebrate its rich history and legacy.
