Glamour as dignitaries grace Akintade Anthony Akinniranye’s 60th birthday and pen-down ceremony as he bows out of the civil service
It was a gathering of distinguished government officials, friends, family, and notable individuals from all walks of life, as the illustrious son of Ile-Oluji, Mr. Akintade Anthony Akinniranye, bid farewell to the Federal Civil Service after a remarkable 60 years of untainted service.
Mr. Akinniranye, who retired as Deputy Director of Programs at the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Ondo State, received numerous accolades and commendations for his exemplary contributions to the nation and humanity.
At the retirement party and 60th birthday celebration held at SITA in Akure on March 21, 2025, his virtues of excellence were celebrated, serving as an inspiration for those still in active service to follow.
The Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Bode Famose, former Director of NOA Ondo State, eloquently praised Akinniranye’s distinguished career, highlighting his unwavering dedication and integrity as a public servant. Mr. Famose emphasized that Akinniranye’s tenure in the agency stood as a testament to hard work, and he encouraged all public servants to emulate his exemplary conduct.
In a separate interview with journalists at the event, the celebrant, Mr. Akintade Akinniranye, reflected on his 28 years of service, acknowledging the challenges he faced but expressing gratitude for the strength and resilience that carried him through. He humbly noted, “My journey in the Civil Service has been tough, but with God’s grace, I have come this far. I began from humble beginnings, and today, I am retiring as a Deputy Director in the Federal Civil Service.”
Despite his retirement, Mr. Akinniranye assured that he is far from weary, confident that the wealth of experience he has amassed will continue to serve him in whatever future roles he undertakes.
Early Life and Education:
Born on March 3, 1965, to the family of the late High Chief Sasere Samuel Akinnifesi Akinniranye of Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, and the late Mrs. Evelyn Omotese Sado (née Eigbobo) of Idunmebo Irrua, Edo State, Mr. Akinniranye’s journey to success began early in life.
His academic journey commenced at Uchi Primary School, Auchi, in 1972, where he completed his Primary School Leaving Certificate in 1978. He then attended Gboluji Anglican Grammar School and later, Holy Saviour’s High School, both in Ile-Oluji, where he earned his West African School Certificate (WASC).
In pursuit of further education, he undertook an apprenticeship in Printing Press under the Federal Government’s Open Apprenticeship Scheme between 1987 and 1990, organized by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). Subsequently, Mr. Akinniranye enrolled at Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University), where he graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in History.
Career:
Mr. Akinniranye’s career in the civil service began on December 4, 1997, when he was appointed as an Orientation Officer II at the National Orientation Agency. He was initially posted to Ekiti State, where he made notable contributions to the agency’s programs. His dedication, efficiency, and reliability led to his transfer to Ondo State, where he continued to excel in his work. Over time, he rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities, including Community Orientation and Mobilization Officer (COMO) in Akoko North East, Akoko North West, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo, and Akure South Local Government Areas. He was later appointed as the Deputy Director of Programs and Head of the Department at the State Headquarters until his retirement.
Professional Experience:
As Head of the Programs Department, Mr. Akinniranye initiated and implemented numerous programs at both state and local government levels, fulfilling the agency’s mandate. Throughout his career, he worked alongside six State Directors, including: Dr. Tunde Ajayi, Mr. Dayo Famosaya (Ekiti), Mr. Bode Famose, Mr. Olawumi Famuyiwa, Mrs. Adelayo Adefolalu, and the current Ondo State Director, Mr. James Adekunle.
His exceptional work ethic and commitment earned him the opportunity to represent the Agency on several inter-ministerial committees and international projects, including:
- Desk Officer, Roundtable Program
- Desk Officer, Ondo State Waste Management Authority
- Desk Officer, One-Health L’Press (Ministry of Agriculture)
- Desk Officer, Public Health Emergency Operation Centre (PHEOC)
- Desk Officer, Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA)
- Desk Officer, International Labour Organization (ILO Project)
- Desk Officer, State Steering Committee on Child Labour (SSCCL)
- Desk Officer, UNICEF, and many others.
Known for his dedication and passion, Mr. Akinniranye has consistently exemplified the qualities of a hard-working and result-oriented civil servant, leaving an indelible mark in every role he undertook.
