LG BOSS CONGRATULATES GOV. AIYEDATIWA ON APPELLATE COURT VICTORY

In a significant legal victory, the Appellate Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State, has ruled in favor of His Excellency Hon. Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, reaffirming their positions as the elected Governor and Deputy Governor of Ondo State.

This legal battle saw the PDP and Agboola Ajayi challenging Dr. Olayide Adelami’s qualifications to run in the Ondo State Gubernatorial election held on November 16, 2024. They made an unsuccessful attempt to draw parallels to the disqualification of Bayelsa’s David Lyon and his deputy, Degi Eremienyo, by the Supreme Court in 2020. However, the court ruled that the Ondo case was legally distinct and not comparable to the Bayelsa matter.

The Appellate Court’s ruling, which upholds the decision of the lower court regarding the qualifications of the Deputy Governor, affirms the popular electoral mandate granted to Governor Aiyedatiwa and Deputy Adelami. This victory further solidifies the democratic concept of “18:0 Pro Max” in Ondo State and strengthens the foundation of electoral jurisprudence.

This victory serves as a testament to Gov. Aiyedatiwa’s popularity and eligibility to continue serving the people of Ondo State. The legal outcome demonstrates his capacity to lead, despite opposition, and reinforces his legitimacy as the rightful Governor. We are confident that under his leadership, Ondo State will continue to prosper.

The judiciary’s unwavering commitment to fairness, justice, and equity plays a critical role in strengthening the democratic principles that define our society. This judgment is a reflection of the judiciary’s role as the last hope of the common man, upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the integrity of our electoral system.

The decision delivered by the esteemed courts is a beacon of justice, providing hope for all citizens, regardless of their status or background.
