Olutayo Yomi hails Tunji-Ojo’s achievements in Interior Ministry

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Hon. Olutayo Yomi Victor also known as Daddy Billions, has described the achievements of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as second to none.

Olutayo in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, said the Minister had used his inimitable prowess to solve the complexities earlier tied around the issuance of passports, adding that Tunji-Ojo has also ensured that all borders in the country are well manned.

The statement reads, “I, Hon. Olutayo Yomi Victor, wish to express my profound admiration for the exceptional leadership and transformative achievements of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo also known as BTO.”

“Since his appointment in August 2023, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has implemented significant reforms that have greatly enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of the Ministry of Interior.

“Under Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s stewardship, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has witnessed unprecedented improvements in passport issuance. Notably, a backlog of 204,332 passports was cleared within a record-breaking three weeks, alleviating the frustrations of countless Nigerians. Furthermore, the introduction of a two-week processing timeline for new passport applications, along with options for home and office delivery, has revolutionized service delivery and restored public confidence in the NIS.

“The Minister has also prioritized national security by implementing robust measures to secure Nigeria’s borders. Enhanced monitoring at international airports and other points of entry has been established to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the safety of citizens.

“Demonstrating a commitment to the welfare of paramilitary personnel, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has overseen the promotion of thousands of officers across various services, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigerian Correctional Service. These promotions have boosted morale and productivity within the ranks. Additionally, plans to establish a functional pension board aim to align paramilitary salaries with those of the Nigeria Police Force, promoting fairness and equity.

“In a compassionate approach to criminal justice reform, the Minister facilitated the clearance of fines and compensations worth ₦585 million for 4,068 inmates, contributing to the decongestion of correctional facilities and emphasizing rehabilitation over punitive measures.

“In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo was awarded the “Public Service Person of the Year 2023” by Leadership Newspaper, acknowledging his bold and exceptional reforms in resolving the perennial passport booklet debacle at the NIS within just five weeks of taking office.

“Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s visionary leadership has set a new benchmark for public service in Nigeria. His unwavering dedication to efficiency, equity, and progressive change continues to inspire confidence and optimism among citizens nationwide. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is blessed to have Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as Minister.
