In a celebration of excellence and exemplary leadership, Comrade (Dr.) Odeh Kehinde, the Public Relations Officer of the Academic Staff Union of Senior Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Ondo State, has been honoured with the prestigious Icon and Most Outstanding Union Leader of the Year Award.
The award was conferred on Sunday, 29th December 2024, during the Democrat News Magazine 2024 End-of-Year Public Lecture and Roll of Honours. The event, held at the HANDEF Event Centre, adjacent to the Akure South Local Government Secretariat, attracted notable dignitaries who lauded Dr. Odeh’s invaluable contributions to education and unionism in Ondo State.
The Chairman of the occasion, Otunba Barr. Yemi Adetoyinbo, described Dr. Odeh as a beacon of leadership and integrity, urging others to emulate his selflessness and unwavering commitment to service.
Delivering the welcome address, Deacon Alaba Aliu, Publisher of Democrat News Magazine, praised Dr. Odeh’s phenomenal impact, emphasizing his dedication to fostering unity and progress within ASUSS and the broader educational community.
The event also featured an engaging lecture titled Entrepreneurial Mindset: Turning Ideas into Income, delivered by Prince Tomi Ikuomola. The lecture offered practical insights for youths on leveraging opportunities to navigate economic challenges and build sustainable livelihoods.
A Glimpse into the Life of Comrade (Dr.) Odeh Kehinde Omoniyi
Born 57 years ago to Apostle Odeh Samuel Omoniyi and Seraph Odeh Grace I, Dr. Odeh’s life has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence:
He started his primary school education at St. Joseph’s RCM Primary School, Akure, where he served as the first senior boy.
And his Secondary Education at Akure Muslim College, Akure.
His Tertiary Education at:
Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo.
Bachelor’s degree in Farm Management and Agricultural Extension (2nd Class Upper) from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).
MBA from FUTA.
Master’s and Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. His Ph.D. research focused on “Climate-Resilient Agriculture in Nigeria: Evaluating the Effectiveness of Climate-Smart Agricultural Practices on Crop Yields, Livelihoods, and Environmental Sustainability in the Niger Delta and Sahel Regions.”
Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Management from the Public Service Training Institute, Ilara.
