The Commissioner for environment in Ondo State, Mr. Sunday Adekunle Akinwalere has made known the readiness of Ondo State government under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to bring out the aesthetic beauty of the state.
While speaking with journalists recently during his visit to Reuben Fasharanti Park, opposite State Government Secretariat, Alagbaka Akure, Akinwalere said the government has put machinery on motion to make Ondo State most beautiful place among the comity of states in Nigeria.
In his words: “The idea has been on ground ever since Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu came on board as the governor of Ondo State.
“Akeredolu has the plan to make our environment cleaner and saver for the use human beings and other inhabitants. You can see me here I just came here to see what we can do to improve the standard of the park that will also generate income into the ministry.
“That is one thing about the Ministry of Environment, when we are working people will see us, even when we are not talking.
While accessing the park, he said it was well utilized during the festive period and that the ministry under his leadership is planning to improve the facilities of the park to ensure regular patronage.
“We have intention to put relaxation centre in place. After hectic day people can come in and find a place to relax and it will add value to economy of the Ondo State.
On eradication of open defecation, the Commissioner for Environment said that the just concluded retreat of political office holders and accountants in Ondo State where the REDEEMED agenda was discussed, environment was also given adequate consideration.
“The Ministry has taken the bull by the horn to see that open defection is reduced to barest minimum. By the end of this week all the policies will be out and we have built public toilet in some strategic places in the state and we are still going to do more.”
