Why I am Promoting Yoruba Cultural Heritage Among My Students, Mr. Adeniyi Oluyide, Principal St. Michael’s High School
A multiple award winning Principal of St. Michael’s Catholic High School, Akure, Mr. Adeniyi Oluyide has stated that his leadership is committed to all round development of the students of the school.
Mr. Oluyide made this observation while speaking with the Democrat News Magazine recently during celebration of Asa Day 2024 saying that he is always ready to show leadership by example.
He noted that his action like many others was based upon the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) that set aside 27th of February for International Day of World’s Indigenous languages.
Mr. Oluyide Adeniyi elegantly dressed in Aso-Oke, sewed into Dansiki and Kembe to reflect a classical Yoruba dressing and after a while he charged to Yoruba batik fabric (Adire/ Campala).
His dancing steps and the way he was singing in Akure dialect, indeed added glamour to the celebration and showed that the younger generation has role model to look up to for not only in the area of hard work much more in the area of keeping Yoruba values and norms.
He used the medium to call on parents to strive hard to communicate deep values and norms of their nativity to their children and wards for posterity.
In the way, he stressed the need for government at all levels to encourage the enthrenchment of heterogeneous languages in Nigeria saying that there is beauty of our Nations’ diversity.
Mr. Adeniyi Oluyide has won many state and national awards as Icon of Education In Nigeria for his exemplary leadership and performance in his chosen career.
