ARCHBISHOP VINING COLLEGE OF THEOLOGY CELEBRATES 106th ANNIVERSARY WITH LIFE IMPACTING EVENTS

 

TO celebrate the 106th Anniversary of Archbishop Vining College of Theology, Akure in a special way, the leadership of the institution led by the Rector and Vicar of the Chapel of Annunciation, Venerable (Dr.) Moses Adetumbi has itemized numbers of life impacting programmes for the benefit of all and sundry within the community and beyond.

Some of the programmes put in place for the good of the people include environmental sanitation, free medical checks and treatments for the people at Oke-Emesho, public lecture on Stress Management, Football Match, Alumni Night, donations to motherless children and correctional center and conferment of awards on distinguished Nigerians of great impacts among others.

While speaking with journalists during a press briefing held within the premises of the College on Monday, 23rd of January, 2023, Venerable. (Dr). Adetumbi noted that the school started in 1917 as a Girls’ Training Institute and later changed to Vining Christian Leadership Centre in the 60s before it eventually became Bishop Vining College of Theology in 1983, and was renamed as Archbishop Vining College of Theology by 1995 after the first Archbishop of West Africa.

He pointed out that some eminent Nigerians that had passed through the school since inception include Lady Evangelist Grace Akeredolu, mother of Ondo State Governor, Primate Nicholas Okoh, Bishop Popoola, Bishop Adekunle, Bishop Ipinmoye and a host of others.

He noted that the high point of the event will come up on Thursday as the Bishop Borokini will be commissioning the Senate building of the College. While the entire programme will be wrapped up on Sunday with special thanksgiving as various choristers from different churches will be in attendance to add glamour to the occasion.

Chief (Mrs.) Tola Ajayi, Ven.Dr. Simeon Agbonnore, Dr. (Mrs.) Modupe Fapohunda, Ven.Luke Olagoroye, Mrs. Dayo Adewunmi, Engr. Ezekiel Olabode, Hon. E. Okunrinde, Mrs Margaret Adeigbe and Amb.Toye Olofintuyi, Mrs. Leye Fadahunsi, Kayode Oladipupo and Niyi Longe and a host of others.

While responding to questions from journalists, Dr. Adetumbi said the school has turned out thousands of graduates that are doing well in their various professions and callings.

He also used the medium to called on the people of Nigeria to embrace the fear of God which he said is the beginning of wisdom and that without this preaching will not make much impact on them.
