Artisans and traders of Ijare origin in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State have benefited over N4 Million empowerment from Egbe Omo Elewe Obi as part of 2022 annual Ijare Day celebration.
The event which attracted crème de la crème from all walks of life was held at Anglican Grammar School field Ijare under the leadership of Mr. Akin Oluwole on Saturday, November, 12, 2022.
Delivering his welcome address, the President of Egbe Omo Elewe Obi, Mr. Akin Oluwole thanked God for the success of the past years and for yet another year despite challenges in the country.
In his words: “Amidst continuous shrinking of economies across the globe, the leadership of Egbe Omo Elewe Obi sustained the mobilization of Ijare development partners that made contributions to the pool from where funds were drawn to meet infrastructural needs, intervene in health provisions and support other ancillaries relating to wellbeing of the community.
“While we continue to put in focus some of our flagship projects, like the reconstruction of the Akure-Ijare- Ikere road, tarring of internal roads, the construction of a new Oba’s Palace, etc, we use this opportunity to call on government of Ondo State and critical stakeholders and partners to join in emplacement a new Ijare Community of our dream.
“We plead with our dear Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to consider the urgent reconstruction of the Akure-Ijare-Ikere road to open up latent economic benefits in Ijare as well as trade and commercial possibilities between sister-states of Ondo and Ekiti.
In his remarks, the Vice President of Egbe Omo Ijare and the Chairman of Local Planning Committee, Dr. Sola Fayose said the day was fixed last year with call to all the residents of the community not to fix any other occasion on the community celebration date.
“One greatest challenge we had in this year celebration is the death of the mother of our governor whose burial was fixed coincided the date of Ijare Day celebration and there is nothing we could but to go on. Some people attended our in the morning and go to Owo at noon and vice versa.
Dr. Sola Fayose pointed out that occasion turned out in huge success adding that they empowered women to the tune of N4 million for artisan and traders to enable women of the community to meet their basic needs.
Dr. Fayose noted that because of ASUSS strike some of the students that enjoyed the payment of their school feels are still in school and that the donor had to hold the money met to give students scholarship till next year which he said will be double.
According to him: “One of the greatest achievements of this event is the empowerment of our people, all you are seeing here today is the contributions of Ijare people no government input in it”.
In his goodwill message, Basorun Ifedayo Adedipe, Ondo Central Senatorial Candidate of People Democratic Party (PDP) who donated generously towards advancement of the course of the community called on well meaning individuals and group to give back to their various communities.
“People of Ijare should be proud of their community because every President, Governor, Senator comes from a community, and they should come home from time to time to see the challenges their people are facing and to contribute their quotas as a means of ameliorating the problems they are facing.
While speaking with the Democrat News Magazine, Pa. J.Ade Oni, the Managing Director of JAONI Nigeria Limited who also donated generously towards the building of modern Palace said he will donate his numerous experience towards the projects like he has been doing from his youth.
The Regent of Ijare and High Chief Salotun of Ijare, Ogunleye Joseph Omosebi thanked God for the success of the occasion and those who contributed generously towards the advancement of the community.
He particularly expressed his heartfelt joy and gratitude to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN for the upgrading the stool of Olujare to First Class.
High Chief Omosebi, used the medium to call on all sons and daughters of the Community to be more active in attending to the needs of the noble community and appreciated the Planing committee for the job well done.
In his comment, Professor Idowu Peter Farai one of the awardees that spoke with journalists appreciated the organizers of the event for nominated him for his numerous impacts and contributions to the advancement of the community.
“This award and all I have achieved in life is not because I am brilliant but because I have worked hard at various stages of my life. So, youths and younger generation should emulate this.
In the same way, Mrs. Florence Aderemi another awardee at the occasion expressed her joy for the honour bestowed on her and others.
She prayed for the advancement of the youths of the community and charged them to be of one mind in attracting development to Ijare town.
In his goodwill message, the Owa of Araromi-Omoaladan congratulated entire sons and daughters Ijare for the successful event and prayed for great years ahead.
In his comment, the Chairman of Ijare Produce Buyers’ Association, Hon. Joseph Oreoluwa Olowomeye said since the annual programme is usually to feast he charged all sons and daughters to focus attention on development and progress of the community.
Olowomeye pointed out Produce Buyers’ Association deals in cocoa, cashew, farm mill and other cash crops and that they have been making contributions in no small measure to the advancement of the community.
While charging the sons and daughters of the community to love one another, Olowomeye also called for peace and pray effectively for the choice of an Oba after God’s heart that will lead the community to an enviable height.
In her comment, President Association of Provision Sellers in Ijare, Mrs. Yodele Funke congratulated the members of the association and the leadership of the community for the success of 2022 Ijare Day celebration which she said it an opportunity for the various age grades and association to fraternize.
In the same she noted that all the members association of Provision Sellers has been making their contributions to the community and that they will continue to do.
She therefore called on government to as a matter importance empower the members the association and to tar Ijare major road from OSRC junction.
