Traditional Rulers across the country have been called upon to emulate the Deji of Akure land Oba (Dr.) Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi in promoting national unity through intertribal chieftaincy honour.
The Sarkin of Hausawa of Akure land, Alhaji Sadiq Babangida made the call while speaking with journalists at Deji’s Palace on Saturday 8th of October, 2022 during the installation of Hon. Sulaiman Aminu as “Atona Ewe of Akure land” (Model of Akure Youths) saying that the Oba Aladelusi is a symbol of national unity.
He also sent a goodwill message to the Deji of Akure Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelisu, on the success of 2022 annual Ulefunta festival.
Ulefunta Festival is an annual event after 7 days of traditioal leave when Deji is not allowed to see anyone.
After the 7th day, Deji calls for the gathering of all his subjects and pray for them as they commence the journey of another year in Akure traditonal calendar.
Alh. Babangida described Oba Aladelusi as a man of honour and a lover of
people stressing that Oba Aladetoyinbo has been instumental to the development of the country which he said was the reason Federal Government of Nigeria bestowed National honour on him.
While congratulating Oba Aladetoyinbo on his numerous achievements in the recent time, he also prayed for rapid growth of Akure under his traditional leadership.
As 2023 election is on the way, he call on Hausa Community in Akure and it’s environs to
obtain their PVC and vote for the candidate of their
choice, and charged them to be peacefully before, during and after the election.
He charged Nigerians of every ethnic divides to embrace
peace and unity themselves, saying the development of
Nigeria can only be made possible through unity.
Medical outreach, novelty football match, public lecture, Jumat and Church services, were parts of the highlight of the programme this year as different groups and age grade took their turns to pay homage to Deji.
