HON. ADEGOROYE SUSPENDS SCAVENGING ACTIVITIES IN ODIGBO LOCAL GOVERNMENT
The Chairman of Odigbo Local Government, Hon. Adegoroye, has ordered the immediate suspension of all scavenging and scrap metal collection activities within the local government area.
This directive follows a recent surge in criminal activities allegedly linked to individuals masquerading as scavengers. It was also observed that many scavengers had infiltrated Odigbo from other parts of the state without undergoing any formal profiling, thereby heightening security concerns.
Hon. Adegoroye emphasized that the suspension is effective immediately, reiterating that the safety and security of residents remain the utmost priority of his administration.
He further disclosed that all relevant security agencies have been duly notified and instructed to enforce the suspension without delay. These agencies have been mandated to ensure full compliance with the directive and to apprehend anyone found violating the order.
The Chairman also urged community leaders and residents to cooperate fully with security operatives by reporting any suspicious activities. He assured that the local government remains committed to maintaining peace and order across Odigbo.
Additionally, the Chairman announced that proper registration and profiling of scavengers will commence shortly to ensure that only verified individuals are allowed to operate within the local government.
