History was made today at Ifelodun Community, Ipinsha, in Akure South local government as the community officially commissioned the first ever Community Basic Health Centre built in partnership with Ondo State Community & Social Development Agency (ODCSDA).

The chairman of the Landlord Association in the community, Engr. Olumilola Stephen Olusegun who said the project is a testament to the great things a community can achieve when the people come together in unity noted that the project was in response to the needs of the people.

While acknowledging that health is the foundation of a prosperous community and stressing that without good health, development can be hindered with the potential of the people untapped, Engr. Olumilola said the unveiling of the health centre will bring to an end the unnecessary suffering of the people due to lack of healthcare facilities.

“This achievement is not mine alone. It is the result of collective effort of all my executive committee members and the whole community of people determined to improve their own lives”.

Particularly, he appreciated Hon. Lukas Alatise, EKSCSDA General Manager, Mr. Fadogba, Dr. Adeyemi Osowe, Director, PHC, the pioneer nurse and other officers for their selfless service.

He also thanked ODCSDA for helping to make the project a reality.

In his charge to members of the community, he admonished them to take ownership of the project, protect and maintain it for the good of generations to come.

Giving his remarks at the event, the Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial district applauded the members of the community for taking up the initiative.

He promised to assist in building 2 toilet facility, provide enough solar to power the health centre, rehabilitate the road leading to the facility and also pay off the hospital bills of the first 35 women to deliver at the Health Centre

He further extended the kind gesture of scholarship running through primary, secondary to university to the first baby delivered at the health centre on Thursday, 13th March, 2025.

The wife of the Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Ondo East/Ondo West federal constituency, Dr. Mrs. Rhoda Makinde, later made donations of medical kits worth millions of naira.

Some of the items she donated include Malaria kit, Thermometer, Microscope, Washable Lab Coats, Crunches, Wheelchair, Baby weighing scale, Sanitizers, Oxygen cylinder and gauge, beds among others.

In a separate remark, HRM Oba Dr. Olufunmilayo, the Akapinsha of Ipinsha appreciated the good gestures just as he supported the community.

Others in attendance at the event who also supported the project include Barr. Stephen Abitogun, Member representing Akure Constituency II, Prince Adeolu Gboyega among others.
