Hon. Sunday Akinwalere Congratulates Omotadewa and Idanre Councilors, Assures Ondo State of Unprecedented Dividends of Democracy Under Governor Aiyedatiwa
Hon. Sunday Akinwalere, the immediate past Commissioner for Water Resources and Public Hygiene, has assured the people of Ondo State of unprecedented development and dividends of democracy under the visionary leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Speaking to journalists at Ward 2, Unit 19, Alade/Atosin Ward, where he cast his vote during the Saturday local government elections, Akinwalere commended the peaceful atmosphere surrounding the election.
However, he noted with concern the apparent voter apathy, stressing the need for greater civic engagement to strengthen democracy in the state.
On the withdrawal of the major opposition party, the PDP, from the election, Akinwalere expressed disappointment, asserting that such actions are detrimental to Nigeria’s emerging democracy.
He emphasized that true democrats should never fear the possibility of failure at the polls, as elections are not always about winning, but about the collective will of the people.
Akinwalere also praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership qualities and political foresight, urging the people of Ondo State to continue their support for the APC government and reassured them that the administration is committed to delivering meaningful and transformative changes.
In his message to Barr. Smart Omotadewa, the newly elected Chairman of Idanre Local and the newly elected councilors from Idanre, Akinwalere offered warm congratulations on their success.
He described Omotadewa as “a round peg in a round hole,” expressing confidence that the people of Idanre will benefit from his excellent leadership and service.
