CONFABUSS FORUM AKURE CELEBRATES 2024 END OF THE YEAR IN GRAND STYLE

The Conference of Bursars Converted to Accountants (CONFABUSS) Forum Akure celebrated a memorable 2024 end-of-the-year celebration on Saturday, December 14, 2024 as members praised God successful completion the year.
The joyous event, held at Goshen Hotel, Adofure, Akure, brought together members, their families, and friends to express gratitude to God for His blessings and guidance over the years.
The President of the Forum, Mr. Adekunle Afolabi, expressed profound joy over the successful gathering. In his speech, he described the occasion as a welcome development that highlighted the unity and growth of the group and further shared the Forum’s vision of establishing a clubhouse, which he noted could be a legacy passed down to the next generation.
“This is a project we are passionate about, as it will not only strengthen our bonds but also create a lasting heritage for our children.” he said.
He also called on members to prioritize the club’s objectives and work together in love and unity to promote collective development. According to him, the Forum’s growth depends on the active involvement and dedication of all members.
The pioneer president of CONFABUSS, Mr. Akinnusi Folorunsho, who also serves as the CEO of Goshen Guests House, expressed his delight over the Forum’s advancements over the past two decades, reflecting on the group’s humble beginnings, he acknowledged the resilience and commitment of its members, which have contributed significantly to its progress.
Mr. Akinnusi took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of health and wellness saying: “As we step into a new year,” he advised, let us take care of our health. Visit the doctor regularly—not only when you are sick—and ensure you get enough rest. Our well-being is essential to achieving our goals.” he added.
Providing historical insight into the Forum’s foundation, Mr. Adeshina Makanjuola recounted how CONFABUSS Akure began in 2004. The group was initially formed by 18 secondary school bursars who, after acquiring additional qualifications, transitioned to the office of the Accountant General.
As the Forum’s first secretary, Mr. Makanjuola shared that the initial members were united by a shared goal of professional growth and mutual support. While reminiscing, he noted that not all bursars embraced the idea at the time. “Some, colleagues, chose not to join us,” he said. He also paid tribute to a member who tragically lost his life in the Owo attack on May 5, 2022, highlighting the challenges the group has faced along its journey.
Sending a heartfelt goodwill message from overseas, Mr. Adeshina Makanjuola expressed nostalgia and gratitude for the Forum’s enduring legacy. “Congratulations to all my colleagues on another successful end-of-the-year celebration,” he said.
Reflecting on the passage of time, Mr. Makanjuola noted that many members have retired from active service while others remain committed to their governmental duties. He prayed for divine guidance and success for those still in service.
“I sincerely pray that God grants our members safe delivery in all their endeavours. It is only those who safely deliver their duties are celebrated,” he remarked with gratitude.
The event featured a wide range of engaging activities, including riddles and jokes, fastest-fingers competitions, and an American auction sale. The exchange of gifts added an extra layer of excitement, while the lively dancing session ensured everyone was on their feet, celebrating in high spirits.
The celebration was not just about fun and games—it also symbolized the enduring bond among members of the Forum. The cheerful camaraderie among attendees underscored the unity that has kept the group thriving for 20 years.

The President, in his closing remarks, thanked everyone who contributed to the event’s success and reiterated the Forum’s commitment to fostering growth and collaboration among its members. He also assured attendees that plans for the proposed clubhouse would be pursued with determination.
