Jubilation As Hon. Yusuf Yisa Adebayo Becomes Odopetu of Ponna-Nla
In a historic and joyous event, Hon. Yusuf Yisa Adebayo, popularly known as “Thousand,” was officially installed as the Odopetu of Ponna-Nla, marking a significant chapter in the history of the community. Hon. Adebayo’s journey to this revered traditional position is a testament to his dedication to public service, his deep-rooted connection to his heritage, and his unwavering commitment to community development.
Born over five decades ago into the esteemed family of Late Pa and Deaconess Yusuf Asaolu Amuda at the C.A.C Oke-Ipinnu Mission House, Ita-Oniyan Old Road, Hon. Adebayo began his academic journey at Mount Carmel’s RCM Primary School, Adun/Ita-Oniyan, Akure, from 1977 to 1983. His secondary education spanned various institutions, including Adun Community Comprehensive High School, Aponmu Community High School, and C.A.C Grammar School, Akure, culminating in his WAEC qualification in 1988. He later advanced his education at Ondo State College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, earning an NCE in Economics/Social Studies in 1996, followed by a Second Class Honours degree in Social Studies from the University of Ado-Ekiti.
Hon. Adebayo’s extensive contributions to public service and community leadership underscore his suitability for this traditional title. He served as the Supervisory Councillor for Information and Communication in Akure South Local Government from July 2014 to July 2015. Beyond his governmental roles, he has held various leadership positions, including Chairman of the Banana Quarters Landlords and Landladies Association, Chairman of the PTA at C.A.C Grammar School, and PRO of the Ondo State Timber Trade Organization (Akure South Chapter). His influential roles as Secretary-General in multiple associations, including the APC Leadership Forum (Ward One, Aponmu) and the Amalgamated Youth Forum, reflect his exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
The installation of Hon. Yusuf Yisa Adebayo as the Odopetu of Ponna-Nla/Oluloye Land, located at Kilometer 4, Old Ondo/Aponmu Road, Akure, is a profound acknowledgment of his contributions to both his community and the larger society.
