According to the National President of AYYA, Comr. Olalekan Owolabi, the bi-annual youth town hall initiative is a testament to Speaker Abbas’s dedication to empowering young Nigerians and ensuring their active participation in shaping the nation’s future. This initiative is a fulfillment of the speaker’s July 2024 pledge to host bi-annual town hall meetings aimed at fostering dialogue between the government and the youth.
The town hall meeting provided a platform for young people to contribute meaningfully to their aspirations in the 2025 Budget. Key issues raised during the meeting included the need for increased funding for youth development initiatives and the centralization of youth-related activities to ensure coordinated efforts. These requests were championed by the Nigeria Youth and other organization youth groups.

During the town hall meeting, he announced the appointment of eight Senior Legislative Aides to his office, a move designed to enhance youth inclusion in governance.
