Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has announced that the era of salary delays and percentage-based payments has come to an end under his administration, assuring workers that these practices are now firmly in the past.

The Governor made this declaration on Wednesday during the NULGE DAY ceremony held in Akure, where the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) officially endorsed him for the upcoming November 16 gubernatorial election. At the event, NULGE also honoured Governor Aiyedatiwa with the title of Grand Patron in recognition of his commitment to the welfare of local government workers.

In response to the endorsement and award, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his deep appreciation, reaffirming his commitment to prioritizing workers’ welfare in the state. He reassured the union that he remains fully dedicated to implementing the newly approved N73,000 minimum wage for civil servants.

“I understand that today is not just about showing numbers; it’s about expressing your solidarity with me, and I am genuinely grateful for that,” the Governor remarked, thanking NULGE for its overwhelming support.

During his speech, Governor Aiyedatiwa also announced the approval of leave bonuses for civil servants, further pledging to intensify his efforts in advancing workers’ welfare once elected.

In his address, NULGE State President Fredrick Akinrilola expressed profound gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for his consistent attention to the union’s concerns and his prioritization of workers’ well-being. He highlighted the progress made under Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, which has fostered a positive relationship between the government and local government employees.

“We have seen significant improvements in our working conditions under your administration. You have always listened to us and responded to our needs, which is why we are unanimously endorsing you for the November 16 gubernatorial election,” Akinrilola said.

He stressed that NULGE’s decision to back Governor Aiyedatiwa was based on his solid track record of supporting local government employees and enhancing their working conditions. “With Governor Aiyedatiwa at the helm, we are confident that the future of local government workers in Ondo State is secure,” Akinrilola noted.

He pointed out that NULGE will deliver over 50, 000 votes to support Mr. Governor come November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.

Also speaking at the event, Bola Taiwo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his dedication to the welfare of civil and public servants in the state. His leadership, she said, has brought about much-needed reforms and stability in the workforce.

The National President of NULGE, Comrade Hakeem Ambali, also lent his endorsement to Governor Aiyedatiwa, expressing his pleasure at the positive feedback from workers about the governor’s leadership. He lauded Aiyedatiwa’s efforts, describing him as a leader deeply invested in the well-being of public servants.
