In a strategic move to galvanize support for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa ahead of the Ondo State gubernatorial election, the Special Assistant on Mobilization, Hon. Bosun Ogunleye, held a crucial meeting with the Female Driver Association of Nigeria (FIDAN), Akure South branch.

The event, which took place at Isolo area in Akure South on 11th of October, 2024, aimed to strengthen the relationship between the government and this vital group of commercial riders, while also addressing their concerns and challenges.

Mrs. Olanusi, the State President of FIDAN, expressed the association’s readiness to mobilize its members across the state for the success of Governor Aiyedatiwa in the upcoming election.

She highlighted the hard work and commitment of the female tricycle riders, pledging their full support but also presenting specific demands and called on the government to facilitate access to soft loans or provide new tricycles that members could pay for in installments or at low interest rates saying that it would greatly enhance their productivity and improve their livelihoods.

Mrs. Olanusi also raised concerns about the discrimination often faced by female riders within the broader transport community and appealed to the government to help ensure equal recognition and fair treatment for the female riders in the industry.

In his response, Hon. Bosun Ogunleye commended the female drivers for their courage, resilience, and dedication to their profession.

He assured them that the government would take their requests seriously and work towards providing solutions that would ease their operations.

Ogunleye further encouraged the association to continue supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Aiyedatiwa, stressing that the administration’s ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects would significantly benefit their work by making transportation smoother and more efficient.

He urged them to canvass for votes in favour of Governor Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Dr.  Adelami, in the November 16, 2024, election.

While highlighting the administration’s numerous interventions that have positively impacted the state, Hon. Ogunleye said Aiyedatiwa has positively impacted almost all Sectors within the short time he came.

Some of the stakeholders present at the meeting were Mrs. Oluyemisi Oki, the Akure South Coordinator of FIDAN, and Mrs. Olabisi Oniya, the association’s Secretary and a host of others.
