Principal of St. Louis Grammar School Follows Government Directive on Admission of New Students – Mike Adekunle
A retired principal in Ondo State, Mr. Mike Adekunle, has strongly condemned recent reports attributed to anonymous parents regarding the Principal of St. Louis Grammar School, Akure. The reports claim that some parents of newly admitted students were unjustly denied admission for their children.
Speaking with journalists at the school on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, Mr. Adekunle clarified that these parents misinformed both the press and the public about the true situation. He emphasized that the principal had strictly adhered to the Ondo State Government’s directives regarding the admission of new students.
“We must understand the reality here,” Mr. Adekunle explained. “Unlike other schools with extensive facilities that can accommodate more students, St. Louis Grammar School faces certain limitations. When you look around, you will see that there haven’t been new projects funded by the PTA or the Old Students Association to expand the school’s capacity. Yet, every parent wants to send their daughter to this school.”
He further elaborated on the admission process, explaining that priority is given to students on the merit list. “We first take care of those who made the merit list, as is the standard in any reputable institution. Unfortunately, some parents, without proper information, have gone ahead to make payments. The school has assured them that their money will be refunded if their children are not on the admission list.”
Addressing accusations that the principal had colluded with a local tailor and locker vendors, Mr. Adekunle dismissed these claims as baseless attempts to tarnish her reputation. He called on those making such allegations to offer a public apology to the principal.
“The principal has an impeccable record, having served in various schools across Ondo State with distinction before being posted to St. Louis Grammar School, Akure. Her track record speaks for itself,” Mr. Adekunle stated.
He concluded by advising parents to approach matters with maturity and calmness. “Parents must learn to handle situations like this with understanding and patience, rather than rushing to make baseless accusations,” he urged.
The parents who previously made unsubstantiated claims against the Principal of St. Louis Grammar School, Akure, have issued an unreserved apology for their actions. The allegations, which suggested misconduct in the school’s admission process, have since been proven false.
In their apology, the parents admitted to making hasty assumptions without proper verification of the facts, leading to unnecessary public outcry. They expressed regret for any damage their accusations may have caused to the principal’s reputation and acknowledged that the school’s admission procedures were in full compliance with government directives.
The parents extended their apologies directly to the principal and the school administration, recognizing the professionalism and dedication with which the principal has managed the institution. They also appealed to the public to disregard the initial reports and accept their sincere apology for the misunderstanding.
The principal, known for her unblemished record of service across various schools in Ondo State, has continued to focus on ensuring the academic and moral excellence of students at St. Louis Grammar School.
