Leadership by Example: Mr. Adeniyi Oluyide Takes on Role of School Prefect as St. Michael’s Catholic High School Sets Quality Standard
The Principal of St. Michael’s Catholic High School, Akure, Mr. John Adeniyi Oluyide, has once again demonstrated his commitment to leadership by example. On Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, the award-winning Principal personally manned the school gate, directing operations and ensuring that the school’s affairs ran smoothly. His hands-on approach has set a precedent for staff and students alike, underscoring the value of active leadership.
Speaking with journalists in his office, Mr. Oluyide emphasized his dedication to advancing the cause of education as schools across the state embark on a new academic session. He outlined the comprehensive plans in place to ensure a successful and efficient school year, highlighting that all necessary measures have been taken to facilitate the smooth running of the institution.
He also pointed out that admissions into Junior Secondary School (JSS) 1 are still ongoing. The school is preparing for its official “Walk-In” ceremony, which will formally welcome new students into the St. Michael’s family.
The Principal noted with pride that the school’s students have been excelling, a result of the conducive learning environment fostered by the school’s management. Beyond academics, St. Michael’s remains committed to nurturing well-rounded students. Mr. Oluyide revealed that the school has lined up a series of extracurricular activities, including an inter-house sports competition, which will contribute to the students’ overall development.
Furthermore, he announced plans to prioritize entrepreneurial training, as well as programs in robotics and information and communication technology (ICT). These initiatives are aimed at equipping students with practical skills, fostering a sense of self-reliance, and preparing them for the challenges of the modern world.
Mr. Oluyide also called on parents to take an active interest in the welfare of their children, stressing that the future belongs to those who prepare for it today.
He expressed his gratitude to the government for approving essential funding to support the school’s operations, particularly in addressing the welfare of corps members and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) staff.
