Rotary Club of Akure City Unveils Ultramodern Club House: A Legacy Project by Rotn. Surv. Semiyu Abiodun Adigun
On Monday, June 24th, 2024, Rotn. (Surv.) Semiyu Abiodun Adigun, President of the Rotary Club of Akure City, fulfilled his promise to deliver an ultramodern club house for the members.
The commissioning ceremony, attended by friends, associates, and the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Dr. Olayide Adelami (represented by Dr. Akin Adekola Falohun, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor), was a testament to Rotn. Adigun’s dedication. He attributed this achievement to God Almighty and expressed his fulfillment in keeping his promise to the Club for the benefit of humanity.
Driven by a passion to elevate standards and leave a lasting legacy, Rotn. Adigun expressed deep gratitude to his fellow Create Hope presidents, past presidents, and all Rotary Club members for their support. He extended special thanks to Hon. Olayato Aribo, State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, for their significant contributions to the project’s completion.
Reflecting on the journey, Rotn. Adigun acknowledged the challenges and the unwavering support he received, particularly from friends, his younger brother Rotn. Olayinka Adigun, and well-wishers.
In his address, he emphasized the importance of sincerity and integrity, celebrating the induction of new honorary members, including Hon. Gbenga Olaniyi, Commissioner for Physical Planning & Urban Development, and Hon. Akinwunmi Sowore, Commissioner for Lands & Housing. Hon. Olaniyi, responding on behalf of the inductees, praised Rotn. Adigun’s leadership, which inspired his own involvement with Rotary.
The ceremony’s highlight was the commissioning of the club house and the unveiling of the plaque by District Governor D9125, Arc. Sani Sagab Ahmed. The event also honored the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, and Hon. Olayato Aribo for their special contributions. Additionally, financial empowerment initiatives were provided to Mrs. Oyewamide Racheal and Mrs. Kehinde Oyeyemisi by a past president of the club, with immediate support from Oba Ogunoye III and Hon. Aribo.
In his remarks to the press, District Governor Arc. Sagab Ahmed commended Rotn. Adigun for his remarkable efforts, leaving an indelible mark on the community. He encouraged other Nigerians to join Rotary International Club in its mission to better the world. Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye III also lauded Rotn. Adigun for his dedication and service to humanity.
The event was graced by past and present Rotary Club presidents and numerous well-wishers, marking a historic moment for the club and its members.
