Barr. (Dr.) Slyvester Olumuyiwa Adu who fast becoming household name in Ondo State and Nigeria politics has cleared air and made his stance known over the numerous Aspirants that are jostling for Governorship seat in the state and specifically stated reasons why he is supporting Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Dr. Olumuyiwa Adu made this known in media Parley on 10th of April 2024 at his residence at Alagbaka, Akure in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State saying that he has taken his time to consider the possibility of Aiyedatiwa being able to to administer governance in righteousness inline with his own ideas.
In his words: “Let us take a look at Ondo State within this short time he come to the saddle of leadership, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa showed that he can do all to ensure that there is optimal level of productivity in the state.
Apart from this, he is ready to work, he needs to surround himself with the right set of people that can help translate his ideas into legacies that can be remembered in the state.
“There is need for us to do total overhauling of our political system in Nigeria. When there is a good system, things will work.
“When we talk about governance, a lot comes to play. You need to get the knowledge and acquire additional skills. You must also have the fear of God in order to be a good leader”.
The Chinese people will never bring Julius Berger to come and do roads in their country. They will look inward. I keep saying it, the cost of governance is too much”,
“Democracy in Nigeria has a long way to go. The system is faulty. The money we are wasting in government is what we should invest in building our structures”
“Some says government should not get involved in business. Who say? In the past when we had Water Corporation and all of that, it worked out well for us as a nation”
“We see things working in US and yet they are not better than us in persons or colour, let used our resources in a right direction, example is this issue of palm that is being waisted here it can become the very source of income for us in Ondo State.
Dr. Adu advocated robust welfare package for Civil Servants and the people of the country saying there is no way, government will be paying as low as N30, 000 and expect maximial output.
“We have to drastically reduced the cost of governance in this nation, until then there cannot be real person with heart of masses. We need people who are financially okay on their own to run the government, who want to serve genuinely.”
