Again, Dr. (Mrs.) Damilola Oshin Bags NUJ’s Most Outstanding School Administrator In Nigeria
The Proprietress of National Award winning Private School in Nigeria in 2022, Mummy’s Place and Emplace International Schools based in Akure, Ondo State, Dr. (Mrs.) Damilola Oshin has again been honoured by the leadership of Ondo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists as Most Outstanding School Administrator in Nigeria.
While speaking on basis for her honour, the Ondo State Chairman of NUJ, Prince Adeleke Adegbite said that Dr. Damilola Oshin has been a passionate woman with unabated love for the less privileged which resulted in giving of scholarship to many pupils in her school in the recent years.
Prince Adegnite noted the award is a way of appreciating and recognizing her love for humanity through instrumentality of education saying the honour will also encourage others to emulate her virtues.
Speaking with journalists shortly after received the insignia of honour on Friday 1st of December, 2023 at Pen House, Alagbaka, Akure venue of the ceremony marking the grand finale of a weeklong press week celebration, Dr. (Mrs.) Damilola Oshin expressed joy and satisfaction for the honour.
“I feel highly honoured and humble as well. This is an encouragement that something that I do privately is being noticed and it gives me an impetus to continue to do more.
“Truly many are the children that are out of school, and it so sad seeing them wasting away just because their parents have no means based on the current situation in the country.
“We have to go out for humanity sake, to see what we can do to cushion the effect of the hardship on the society as much as we can and by the grace of God we will continue.”
Speaking on the success recorded in her school, which attracted state and national awards, Dr. Oshin said: “It’s mainly by the grace of God and doing the work to the best of our ability and wait for God to bless the work of our hands”.
“It is over 22 years now, that we have been doing what we are doing consistently before the honours came from different directions and we return all glory to God.”
On qualitative education delivery, Dr. Oshin said it does not have to necessarily be business where school owners make outrageous money to the detriment of less privileged ones in the society like some people thought. Saying that what is the essence of education when its not available for common people in the country?”
“It is heart rendering to see that many students are out of schools even those in the university, there some of them that cannot continue because of what is going on the country.
“Everyone has role to play by reaching out to those who are not able to measure up to financial responsibility and if 100 people could reach out to another 100 people, the society will be better off and life will be more meaningful for o all and sundry”.
Other awardee include, Pastor Kayode Ogundele, HOS, Commissioner For Finance, Managing Director of Evershine Travel and Tours and a host of others.
