A former Councilor, former House of Assembly Member and currently a Commissioner in Ondo State House of Assembly Commission, Hon. Pius Idowu Adebusuyi has called on those who are agitating to remain calm to allow Governor’s Assent to Local Council Development Areas Bill (LCDA) before scheming to become Caretaker Chairman.
Adebusuyi who is a leader of APC in Ifedore Local Government Area and Ondo State in general gave the advice while speaking with journalists in his office in Akure on September 4, 2023 over current political development in Ijare community.
In his words: “Let me use this medium to appreciate the government of Ondo State in respect of LCDA, because the Bill has been sent to Ondo State House of Assembly and Public Hearing has been carried out and it has passed through first, second and third readings.
“Members of the public have been able to air their views and opinions about the subject matter, but as I am talking to you now it has not been assented to by Mr. Governor and if that has not been done by implication it has not become full fledged law.
“When I see people agitating to become Caretaker Chairman under this platform, I consider it as if the majority of the people doing that seem not to understand what they are talking about. Because when a bill has not been assented to by the number one citizen of a state such a bill is yet to stand . Until the bill is being assented to that is when it becomes a law, it is then that issue of agitation can come up.”
Being the leader of the party in Ifedore Local Government Area and Ijare zone hon. Adebusuyi called on the people of the community to go about their normal businesses and that they should be law abiding LCDA Bill is awaiting the assent of Mr. Governor.
Hon. Pius Idowu Adebusuyi also used the opportunity to congratulate one of his friends, Hon. Otito Atikase on his appointment as a member of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
He said:”Let me thank the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria for listening to yearning of the people of Ondo State. Initially the position was given to Hon. Kolade Akinjo, immediate past Member of House Representatives who happens to be a PDP member.
“Lots of presentations and agitations were made and Mr. President has to reverse it and give it to the right person and this is the reason all our members in APC are happy in Ondo State.”
He expressed confidence in the leadership of Hon. Atikase in bringing dividends of democracy to the people in the mandate areas stressing that he (Atikase) has impeccable leadership qualities as he demonstrated when they were service together at 7th Assembly in Ondo State.
