FG ALLOCATION,NANS DEMANDS JUDICIOUS UTILIZATION IN ONDO STATE
The National Association of Nigeria Students, Joint Campus Council,Ondo Axis under the able leadership of Comrade Akinola Elijah has demanded for judicious utilization of fund to be distributed to all States of the Federation including Ondo State amounting to #1.959:trillion naira from the Federal Account Allocation Committee.
In a letter written to the Ondo State Government, signed by leadership of NANS and made available to journalists in Akure on Friday this week by the Public Relation Officer of NANS Com.Okeniyi Elijah, the body admonished ondo state government to use the fund to eradicate suffering and poverty bedeviling the down throdden masses.
According to the letter written to the Acting Governor of Ondo State,His Excellency Lucky Ayedatiwa ‘The N1.959 trillion approved by the Federal Government to all States should be focus on eradicating suffering and poverty”
The Leadership of NANS JCC,ONDO AXIS stated that with the prevailing suffering and poverty being passed through by the masses especially students of tertiary Institutions who had hitherto entrusted their votes to deepen democracy in Nigeria cum Ondo State with a view to enhancing brighter future, admonished the Ondo State Government to utilize the fund from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) amounting to N1.959 trillion to all States and Ondo State as a beneficiary judiciously and on initiatives that will directly benefit students as well as the masses who played major roles during the various elections that produced all the elected representatives in Ondo State.
They called on the government to alleviate the suffering of the masses who can no longer afford three square meals as a result of financial anaemia being experienced before, during and after removal of the Oil subsidy and the sudden petroleum pump price hike.”Families frequently encounter an overpowering accumulation of debt, encompassing loans, medical charges and mortgage installments,thereby intensifying the financial burden and impeding the ability to achieve financial stability as well as escalating cost of living”
NANS admonished the Ondo State Government to fix some of the decayed pubic utilities with special reference to education which has gone out of reach of ordinary citizens. “However, countless students across the federation face insurmountable challenges in accessing quality education.We earnestly appeal to the Ondo State Government to prioritize a significant portion of the allocated funds towards scholarships, educational infrastructure development and provision of essential learning materials”
The body frown at the state of medical health services and urged the government to make quality and affordable medical health delivery one of its topmost priorities now that a huge allocation that will be first of its kind since the State was created is being allocated to its coffer.
In another development, NANS urged the government to establish additional vocational training centres where the youths and other job seekers can acquire skills to improve their livelihoods.
