UGCOA Holds 2023 AGM, Elects New Leaders In Akure
Members of Unity Government College Oye Ekiti Alumni Association (UGCOA) gathered together on Saturday 8th of July, 2023 at Royal Birds Hotels and Tower Alagbaka, Akure to hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM) and to elect the new set of leaders that will steer the ship of the association for the next three years.
The members of UGCOA came from far and wide to fraternize with One another with sense of nostalgia.
While speaking with journalists at the occasion, the Chairman of Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Mr. Abiola Omojugbagbe said that the AGM was uniquely designed to elect leaders of Alumni Association of UGCOA.
According to him: “This is the 14th of our Annual General Meeting tagged Oyemekun 2023 is very unique because it is done under the ambient of glitz and glamour .
Omojugbagbe said: “I am also using this medium to advise all our members to support the new set of leaders as the are set to take the association to the next level.
In his speech, the immediate past President of the association, Engr. Bimbo Adebayo thanked God for the success of his tenure which he described as eventful with numbers of a achievements that can speak for itself.
He also thanked all his team members for their support saying that his administration started in the midst of Global pandemic of Coronavirus and yet was not deterred in actualizing their set goals.
Engr. Adebayo said this is the first time that members of the association in diaspora will participate in the choice of those who govern them.
In the same way, he apologize to members in case of any thing he might have done wrong and called on the new executive members to pick it up from they have stopped for the benefits of all their members both at home and abroad.
After a keenly contested election as part of the activities of the association, Mr. Timi Omonijo emerged as the new President of noble alumni.
Mr. Apesin Fapoluyi- Vice President, Pius Ogunjobi-General Secretary, Oluwaseun Adesoro-PRO, Bola Ojo Ayegbusi- Treasurer, Evelyn Adepoju- Ass Gen Sec, Oluwayomi Jegede – Organizing Sec and Folape Afolabi -Fin Sec.
In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated President, Mr. Timi Omonijo who was full appreciation to God and the members of the association for the confidence reposed in him to lead the association to the next level.
He therefore promised not to relent in his efforts towards advancement of the members welfare stressing that those that are well to do should lift up other as to ensure even distribution of wealth among their members.
In the same way, he pointed out that the next AGM will be in Abuja calling on members to prepare ahead.
Also in his good will message, the Majority Leader of Ekiti State House of Assembly and One of the Alumni of the college 1996 set, Hon. Tolu Ige congratulated the new set leaders that will be driving the affair of the association and charged them to endeavour to call all members both at home and abroad along for the purpose of prosperity of all their members.
The event reached it’s climax when awards were handed over to deserving individuals for their contributions to the association.
After taken assorted food and drinks members took to the dancing floor as live band played for them.
