***Acting Gov says Gov Akeredolu is Gender Sensitive.
As International Federation of Women Lawyers ( FIDA ), Nigeria wrapped up it’s National Executive Council ( NEC ) meeting in Akure, Ondo State Acting Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa has thanked the advocacy organization for chosen Ondo State in hosting their NEC meeting, as he reassured them that, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s administration is gender sensitive.
Aiyedatiwa spoke as Special Guest of Honour at the Dinner Night of the Second Quarter NEC meeting of FIDA held at Royal Birds Hotels and Suites, Alagbaka Akure on Friday.
He said FIDA is an important stakeholder in women advocacy.
The 5-Day FIDA Nigeria Second Quarter NEC meeting, tagged Akure 2023 with Theme: “Digital Environment: Understanding Digital Skills for the Overall Development of Women and Children in Nigeria” ended on Friday with good hospitality memories of the State from the participants spread across the country.
In his remarks Aiyedatiwa said, “let me commend FIDA for all that you have been doing through your advocacy, protecting the girl-child in having access to justice” .
“You are not only lawyers, you are also mothers as you are all home builders” .
“You advocate, you promote social justice, you also build homes… because the faith I shared tells me that a good woman build home as I believe you are all good women” , he said.
The Acting Governor informed the gathering that the State Government under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON is championing the cause of women participation in governance through the creation of an Agency on Gender Equality.
He equally disclosed that, Ondo State Government has seven women in the State Executive Council, showing Mr Governor’s dynamism and commitment to a world without prejudice to the women folk.
“We are part of you and we really recognize what you are doing” , declared Aiyedatiwa.
Earlier, FIDA County Vice President/National President, Mrs Amina Suzzanah Agbaje commended the gender sensitivity of Ondo State Government and also appreciated the state’s contribution to the successful hosting of their NEC meeting in the sunshine state.
The event was rounded up with Award presentation to Mr Governor through the Acting Governor.
