ILEKUN AGOG AS OBA BENJAMIN OMOLEEWO RECEIVES STAFF OF OFFICE

Ilekun Community in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State play host to eminent Nigerians from within and outside the country as Oba Benjamin Omoleewo received the staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment as the first crowned Oba of the ancient community.
Oba Ololeewo who was described by many of his admirers as man of destiny whose tenure brought about unprecedented development of Ilekun and more importantly the age long desire to have a recognized Oba, received certificate of appointment and staff of Office as the first recognized of Ilekun on Thursday December 15, 2022.
While presenting the Staff of Office at the Palace of Elekun of Ilekun, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON who was represented by Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sir Charles Titiloye congratulated Oba Benjamin Omoleewo on the success of the rare height he attained by the grace of God.
Akeredolu said Oba Omoleewo was among 62 new stools recognized in line with the recommendations of Justice C.E.T Ajama Judicial Commission of Inquiry on Chieftaincy Matters and contained in a white paper made public in September 2022.
While charging Oba Benjamin Omolewo to continue to make relevant contributions for the advancement of his community he also stressed the need to form alliance with other neighboring traditional rulers to enthrone peace and tranquility of the state.
In the same way, he charged the newly crowned Elekun of Ilekun to be retrained in the use of traditional staff of office saying that Government would any traditional rulers to extend his rulership outside his domain.
He therefore called the people of the community to keep supporting Oba Omoleewo as he made his readiness known extend the dividends of democracy to all communities in the state.
In separates interviews, High Chief of the community and other relevant stakeholders congratulated Oba Benjamin Omoleewo for being the first crowned Oba of the community that has been in existence of 400 years.
In his acceptance speech, High Royal Highness Oba Benjamin Oluwafemi Omoleewo, the Elekun of Ilekun paid a glowing tribute to God Almighty and deep appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State for granted the request the community has been longing for, for the past 400 years.
In the same way, Oba Omoleewo thanked Mr. Governor on many developmental projects he had embarked upon since his assumption of office, which he said made the state rank the best among comity of states in Nigeria.
In his words: “Governor Akeredolu is now working seriously on our road from Shoprite to Oda town with double lane. I cannot do without mentioning Amotekun, Mr. Governor took a bold and giant stride to let Amotekun stay and protect the people of the state which is highly commendable. We pray God will reward you accordingly, Amen.”
“We procured a transformer through community efforts about Eighteen years ago, with increasing in number of houses on daily basis, the transformer cannot service the whole community. It is getting old, we need another transformer to complement the existing one.”
He pointed out that the community had made 8 plots of the land available for the Community Secondary School and 4 plots for Comprehensive Health Centre as well as 4 plots for market stalls calling on government to come to their aid in building structures to enable members of the community enjoy dividends of democracy to the fullest.
Oba Olomeewo called for the maximum cooperation of the people of the community as to engender peace, progress and development in the community.
In separates interviews with the Democrat News Magazine High Chief S.O Alade, Asamo and Olori Abiodun Omolewo and Revd (Dr.) spoke about persistence of Oba Benjamin Omoleewo in area of development of Ilekun community sincere 1983 he has been leading them.
