MOKIN CONSTELLATION CLUB ILARA-MOKIN COMMISSIONS MULTIMILLION NAIRA ROUNDABOUT PROJECT
…As Egbe Omo Ilara Bestowed award of Mokin Patriot in community development Service on the club
The residents of Ilara-Mokin community in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State have taken delivery of a multimillion naira roundabout reconstruction and beautification with waterfall site by Mokin Constellation Club as the community celebrated 2022 Mokin Day.
Constellation Club is one of the leading Social Club in Ilara-Mokin, the club consists of notable men of Ilara origin who through personal donations changed the faces of the people and the community in the past 40 years.
At the commissioning of the project on Saturday 19, November, 2022 Oba Aderemi Adefehinti, the Alara of Ilara-Mokin, commended the leadership and all members of the club for the job well done, which he said has added beauty to the community in no small measure.
Oba Adefehinti pointed out that patriotic sons and daughters of the community have been doing their best from time to time to see to the development of father’s land.
He therefore called on other social clubs in the town to emulation Constellation Club under the leadership of Surv. J.I.S Afolabi, fnis, Jp in executing timely projects to advance the course of Ilara-Mokin people.
In the same way, he called for maintenance culture among the community people as a way to preserve the projects donated to the community for posterity.
Also speaking, the first Female President of Egbe Omo Ilara-Mokin, Dr (Mrs.) Oluwayemisi Olorunsola thanked all the members of the club for giving back to the community which she said its going to increase the beauty of the ancient community.
In her words: “This is adding a beauty and development to Ilara-Mokin, if you take note you will see that many projects are coming up here, this shows, Ilara-Mokin is now a city on the global map. Because we have ELIZADE University, we have Golf Course and a well laid beautiful town and now Constellation Club is doing this.
“This reconstruction and beautification of our major roundabout is one in its own class in Ondo State, I am proud to be president of Egbe Omo Ilara-Mokin at this time.
Dr. Oluwayemisi commended the numerous contributions they had received so far and promised on behalf the sons and daughters of the community to continue to do more for the advancement of the community and to make life livable the residents of the community.
She also used the occasion to appeal to other club to emulate Constellation saying that nothing is too small to contribute towards the community development.
Earlier in his welcome address, the president of the Club, Const. (Surv.) J.I.S Afolabi, FNIS ,(JP), returned all glory and honour to God Almighty that made it possible for the execution of the project.
Afolabi said: “The roundabout project being commissioned today is one of the very many initiatives of our noble club embedded in long, mid and short term projects, initiated under my leadership for the development of our community.
The President noted that the formulation of Mokin Constellation Club, Ilara Mokin, started when they came together as teenagers to support one another in group studies stressing that the motive then was to build confidence in one another and improve on their performances in their various secondary schools, which later metamorphosed to the formation of the Club in 1986.
He pointed out further that, the Club has produced men of timber and caliber in different walks of life, to the glory of God.
In his words: “In appreciation of what God has done in our lives, we have initiated and have been involved in various developmental projects in Ilara-Mokin. We have been making donations through Egbe Omo Ilara-Mokin for the development our community.
“We were the first club or group to give out palliatives to members of our community during the COVID-19 lockdown. We are also involved in various educational projects such as the provision of exercise books, text-books to secondary schools in our community and annual free coaching in preparation of final year secondary school students for their terminal examinations among others.
“The reconstruction and beautification of the main roundabout in Ilara-Mokin is another testimony of our commitment to the development of our community. We believe that, this would further complement the efforts government and others in the overall development our community and Ondo State in general.
“At this juncture, I passionately plead with Egbe Omo Ilara-Mokin to provide adequate security for this multimillion project in order to prevent it from being vandalized hoodlums.
“We pledge to continue to remain in the forefront in executing developmental projects to ensure equitable socio-economic development of our community.”
Also speaking with the journalists at the occasion, the Chairman of Project Committee, Engr. Alimi Adeusi Lawal said the beginning of the project was tough but for the help of God.
Engr. Alimi said: “Let me use this medium to thank the members of project committee for their tireless efforts and the president of the club for providing leadership.
According to him, the reconstruction and beautification of Ilara-Mokin major roundabout cost N2, 850, 000 which he said was donated by the members of the club.
In recognition of noble contributions of Constellation Club, Egbe Omo Ilara-Mokin bestowed Patriot award in community development service on the club at palace of Alara of Ilara among many witnesses.
