Engr. Sunday Gbenga Fayose has been honoured with prestigious merit award by Egbe Omo Elewe Obi for his numerous contributions to the community and humanity at large.
His honour came with a loud ovation from the crème de la crème from all walks of life that converged at 2022 Ijare Day celebration on Saturday, November, 12 this year at Anglican Grammar School Field Ijare.
Engr. Sunday Fayose who had served in various positions and had chaired different committees at one time or the others was among three awardees for 2022 Merit award.
While speaking with the Democrat News Magazine and other journalists shortly after receiving his award, Engr. Sunday Fayose who was full of joy appreciated the organizers for his nomination for the honour regarded as achievement of lift time.
In his words: “This is the best honour Egbe Omo Elewe Obi could give me, let me tell you, charity begins at home.
Whatever you do and your people can recognize and believe in you and get to a level of giving you an award I think that is the best thing that can happy to a man from his community.
“On this note, I feel celebrated, I feel honoured and I am very delighted for this merit award here today at Ijare Day 2022. This award will linger on forever in my memory.
In the same way, he charged the younger generation to always exhibit forthrightness, hard work and excellence that Ijare is known for.
“We have people before us that we looked up to when we are much younger. My parents are disciplined people, and they believed in hard work and my father taught me how to work hard before his death. Engr. Fayose noted.
Other awardees include Professor Idowu Peter Farai and Mrs. Florence Aderemi.
