Surveyors in Ondo State have described High Chief (Surv.) Semiu Abiodun ADIGUN, the Permanent Secretary and Surveyor General of Ondo State as a man of destiny whose tenure in office brought unprecedented development to survey community.
The warm reception was organized by the Ondo State chapter of the Nigerian Institution Surveyors (NIS) on Tuesday, 30th August, 2022 at NIS House, along Agagu road, Akure.
The event according to the chairman of the Planning Committee, Surv. Joshua Afolabi was put together in
appreciation to Mr. Governor for upgrading office of SurveyorGeneral to extra ministerial position and to celebrate the new PS/Surveyor General saying under his watch, the survey
community experienced tremendous achievements.
Speaking shortly being decorated with an award, the celebrant, Surv. Adigun thanked members saying he was indeed a very
happy man having witnessed the reality of an agitation that has lasted for more than 17 years.
ADIGUN said his tenure brought about E-practice for surveyors and that soon, a state of the art edifice magnanimously approved by the Governor would be commissioned for use as the office the Surveyor General.
He expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for doing so much for the survey community in the state.
While speaking at the occasion, the state
commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Mrs. Bamidele Olateju congratulated Surv. Adigun described him as a honest and hardworking man that can be trusted at all times.
Hon. Olateju who said Surv. Adigun’s integrity cannot be
questioned charged others most especially the young
surveyors to emulate his humility so that they too can attain the peak of their career.
In his goodwill message, the NIS Deputy President Dr. M.O
Ibitoye who was represented by Surv. Oguntinuade rejoiced with Adigun and thanked the leadership of NIS for the warm reception.
The Ondo State NIS chairman, Surv. (Mrs). Helen Fakorede and the chairman of the Association of Private
Practicing Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN), Surv. Aje while
congratulating Surv. Adigun commended him for the good job
he has been doing just as they urge members of the survey
community to continue to support him.
Also at the event were five living former Surveyor Generals of
the State – Chief (Surv.) J. A Fagbamiye, Alhaji Basaru Surv. Agunbiade, Surv. Adegbenro and Surv. Folahanmi who admitted to have groomed Surv. Adigun for excellent service and particularly applauded him for making history saying the survey community at large is very proud of his achievements.
As part of the event is the presentation of award to Surv. Adigun in recognition of his excellent service by the Ondo State NIS.
Young Surveyors Forum, Women in Survey and Surveyors Wife Association of Nigeria (SWAN) used the opportunity to appreciate Adigun for his different efforts towards their wellbeing and also presented their gifts to the celebrant.
In a chat with newsmen, Engr. Allen, PS, Ministry of Works described Surv. Adigun as a gentle man that came, saw and conquered stressing that posterity will continue to remember his good works.
Also speaking, the wife of the celebrant, Chief Mrs Titilayo Adigun, the Owasunmisola of Owo kingdom thanked
members of NIS for the honour bestowed on her husband and prayed to God to grant him greater tomorrow..
Some of the staffs in the Survey Department who spoke with journalists described Surv. Adigun as an easy going man,
one that is easy to work with and an excellent administrator.
Mrs. Obiora while congratulating Surv. ADIGUN said he provided leadership to entire survey community in Ondo State.
