ENGINEERING WEEK: NSE AKURE BRANCH HONOURS EMINENT PERSONALITIES FOR QUALITY CONTRIBUTIONS

 

The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Akure Branch under the chairmanship of Engr. Ezekiel Oloruntola, FNSE has rolled out drums to celebrate 2022 Engineering Week with clarion call to stakeholders to keep supporting the profession for effective nation building.

A week long event started on Monday, 22nd of August, 2022 with press briefing and commencement of games at Engr. Raymond Olusoga Engineering Building at Alagbaka, Akure.

While day two of the programme focused on Health Walk and inauguration of proposed Owo branch of the society. Day three and day four of the celebration featured continuation of the games, lecture and AGM of the Society.

Friday, 26th of August was dedicated to Young Engineers for project design and presentation, followed by Jumat Service at the Akure Central Mosque and later in the day was Spouses Forum cum Asun night.

 

The events reached it’s climax on Saturday with colourful dinner and award night as Ondo State Commissioner for Energy, Mines and Mineral Resources, Engr. Razaq Obe spoke extensive on Oil and Oil Alternative Mix For Energy Sustainability in a Developing Nation at OSDPC Event Centre, Housing Corporation, Ijapo Estate, Akure. And the whole event was crowned with special thanksgiving service at South West Regional Headquarters of The Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry, along Ilesha Road, Akure on Sunday, 28th of August 2022.

Some of the recipents of 2022 NSE awards include the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, the State Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Ade Adeleye, Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Olayato Aribo and his counterpart in the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Mineral Resources, Engr. Razaq Obe, Director of FERMA, Engr. Babatunde Ige, Director of Vehicle Inspection Office in Ondo State, Engr. Alabi Adeleye and a host of others.

While speaking with journalists at the occasion, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN who was represented by Engr. Razaq Obe congratulated the leadership and entire members of the society on the successful Engineering week.

He pointed out that Ondo State government led by Akeredolu has been supporting Engineering profession in all ramifications.

He urged them to keep ethics of the profession alive to be able to make the nation great.

Earlier in his comment, the Chairman of NSE Akure Branch, Engr Ezekiel Oloruntola attributed all he was able to achieve to grace of God and the support of the members.

He also commended the elders of the profession for their active roles towards advancement of engineering profession in Ondo State.

He used the opportunity to charge the incoming leaders of the society to keep lifting the pace of development in Akure Branch of NSE.

In his comment, Engr. Stephen Olugbenga Bolawole, Chairman-Elect, commended great height Engr. Oloruntola had achieved to the glory of God.

He said his administration will follow Oloruntola’s leadership qualities and way operation which he said had brought unprecedented development to the society.

Engr. Abdulrasheed Babalola who represented the National President of the society called on governments at all levels to give engineers pride of place as they are noted for pivotal roles in nation building.

Reacting to the award presented to him, Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Olayato Aribo appreciated Akure NSE for the recognition and promised to keep making his modest contributions to engineering profession any time he has the opportunity.

Also in his chat with journalists, Engr. Ige Babatunde commended Engr. Oloruntola for his good leadership and pointed out that the honour bestowed on him at the occasion would spur him to keep the flag flying as a good ambassador of engineering profession.

Also speaking after her award, the Chairman of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, Akure Chapter, Engr (Mrs.) Dorcas Akinwumi lauded the rapid development of the society under the leadership of Engr. Ezekiel Oloruntola.

She also used the medium to pray for the greater development and wellbeing of Akure NSE.
