NBA Akure Branch Gets New Leaders

… ‘I AM SET TO RAISE THE BAR FOR A BETTER BAR’ -AYENAKIN

 

The Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA), Akure Branch has inaugurated the new executive members that will run the affairs of the association for the next two years under the chairmanship of Mr. ‘Banjo Ayenakin, Esq.

Other Executive members include Chukwumezie Obiaghanwa, Vice Chairman, Olumide, Esq, Secretary General, Benjamin Obilor, Assistance Secretary, Alhaja K.A Gbadamosi, Treasurer, Olutoye B. Adeyanju, Esq, Welfare Secretary, Yakubu Lineker, Esq, Social Secretary, Kemisola Obafemi, Esq, Financial Secretary and Subair Abiodun, Esq, Publicity Secretary.

The inauguration ceremony was held on Monday, 29th of August 2022 at NBA House, Oke-Eda, Akure as digintaries from bar, bench and academia graced the occasion.

 

While speaking with journalists shortly after his inauguration, the new chairman, Mr. ‘Banjo Ayenakin, Esq who described the event as a unique one in the history of the branch said  it was the first time that the association would have formal handing over and peaceful transition which he described as the beginning of good things to come in the branch.

He pointed out that the Association under his leadership will raise the Bar for better practices stressing that he had concluded plans with a commercial bank to enable any member of the branch to access bank loan to the tune of N10 million without collateral.

In the same way, he noted that his administration had set up NBA Law Academy as way to raise the bar of the profession and that he and executive members will renovate the chairs and tables in all the courts in Akure.

“As part of my vision for the association, we have about 13 different committees that we have put in place to ensure that we deliver as we have promised during our electioneering campaign.”

He also used the occasion to charge  newly inaugurated members of Young Lawyers’ Forum to be consistent and work with integrity which he described as hallmarks of success in the profession.

Also speaking with journalists, the immediate past chairman of the branch Mr. Rotimi Olorunfemi thanked God for the successful completion of his tenure and expressed confidence in the competence of his successor and his members to raise the bar of the association a great deal.

Awards and certificates of stewardship were also presented to the immediate past executive members for their meritorious service to the association.

Earlier, in his lecture at the occasion, the Dean of Faculty of Law, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Akoko, Dr. Gbenga Oke Samuel who stressed the importance of mentoring in law profession as it’s apposite for good delivery and healthy society.

He also charged the new generation of professionals not to disdain mentoring because of it underlying benefits.
