The Chairman of Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Hon. (Dr.) Sola Ogunsina has honoured some outstanding personalities of the local government origin that had contributed to the development of humanity within and outside Nigeria as part of activities to celebrate his 100 days in office.
The much celebrated award ceremony was held at KOMT Hotel and Suits, Igbole Road, Ido-Ekiti in Ekiti state on Tuesday April 19, 2022 where the past and present icons of Ido/Osi local government origin were honoured for their good works.
Some of the living icons that were honoured at the occasion include, Prof. Israel Ayoola Olatunde, Yeyelua of Idoani Kingdom, Olori Prof. Omolayo Olutoye, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, Brigadier General Ibukun Olu Adewa, Dr. Omojola Awosusi, Dr. Bolatito Obisesan, Engr. Charles Olusegun Adekuajo and ACM. Fadogba Oludare Rtd.
Others are, Chief David Olaniyi Omoniyi, Chief (Prince) Adegboye Olayisade, Hon. (Chief) Bunmi Oriniowo, Adeuya Oluwole Victor, Alhaja Princess Adebola Suwebat and Mr. Ogunkolade David.
The posthumous awardees that were represented by their children and close relatives include late Chief Nathaniel Bankole Ajayi, Late Prof. Adegoke Olubunmi, late Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Awelewa Abebiyi, Late Chief Jacob Olusola Omole and Late Elder (Engr.) Joshua Temitope Ogunbusuyi.
In his good will message at the occasion the Hon. Commissioner of Education Science and Technology in Ekiti State, Dr. (Mrs.) Bimpe Aderiye congratulated the Chairman of the Local Government and all the award recipients saying that such honour will serve as morale booster to those present to endeavour to do good in their various professions and callings.
She also identified with Dr. Ogunsina for his initiative and contributions towards to transformation of Ido/Osi Local Government stressing that with the recognition of the past and living Icons he has written his name in gold in the history of the local government.
While delivering his welcome address the Chairman of Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Hon. (Dr.) Sola Ogunsina said it is a noble course; celebrating outstanding men and women that had contributed and still contributing to the development of humanity in their various professions and callings.
Ogunsina underscored the importance of the gathering in the words of Suzy Kassem: “Nothing exists without a purpose. Every experience you have in your life time was written for you to grow into the light you were meant to become.”
“During my campaign for the elective position of Ido/Osi Chairmanship, it was stated as part of my manifesto to engage a social/economic and political inclusiveness of all and sundry in the administration and governance of Ido/Osi Local Government.
“Today as you all are witnessing is in fulfillment of that promise and a fulfillment of my social contract to recognize for honour and celebrate all those who made their marks either in the deployment of their cerebral gifts, communal service, physical quality and social impetus that have contributed in no small measure to the growth and development of our dear local government.”
He however pointed out that all the awardees either as past legends or living Icons truly deserved the honour therefore commended their sacrifices towards enlisting Ido/Osi Local Government as the best among all others.
“For those who transitioned to the beyond, their works continue to speak for/after them as their memories remain indelible in our hearts. To our living Icons, we cherish and celebrate you now and always as we pray God to give you robust health, lasting peace and wealth that will enable you to maintain your frontiers.
He also used the medium to appreciate the Governor of the State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi and the chieftain of the party for the opportunity given to him to serve in the capacity as the Chairman of Ido/Osi Local Government promised not to let down the confidence reposed in him.
The Local Government Chairman charged all and sundry present at the occasion in whatever they do or say they should be truthful, fair, build good will and friendship and seek the benefit of others.
Some of those who spoke the Democrat News Magazine at the occasion saluted unprecedented developmental stride of Dr. Sola Ogunsina within 100 days in office saying that the Local Government will know his tenure for good.
Hon. Michael Olufemi Omobopade, Mrs. Dada, Dr. Tola Johnson,Ekiti State Auditor General, Adeoye Oluwole Victor Head of Local Government Administration of Ido/Osi, Alhaji Ogunsakin Ganiyu Tunde, Auditor General for Local Government in Ekiti State, Alfred Kayode Fasakin, Bashorun Babatunde Odetola and a host of others called on other local government areas in Nigeria to emulate Ogunsina.
