The Director of Gender Equality and Mobilization, NANS ZONE D, Comrade Temikotan Oluwaseun Omotola popularly known as Woman Leader has spoken on the implications of the incessant ASUU Strike. This was while addressing newsmen in Akure, Ondo State capital. Temikotan besieged the leadership of ASUU and the Federal Government to reach a positive compromise on the lingering issue of incessant strike actions.
The students’ leader emphasized the disadvantages of the strike affected by students. She stated that “the female gender has been exposed to numerous sexual abuses and molested by unscrupulous elements, who see the strike as an avenue to perpetrate such evil. She further stressed that the strike would result in unnecessary compression of curriculum that should have been taught coherently, which by implication, Nigeria Universities now award certificates to half-baked students”. According to her, these are among the many attendant effects imposed on students as a result of the ASUU strike.
While pleading with the Government, she urged the association leadership to temper justice with mercy and accept a positive offer from the government.
However, she said she won’t hesitate to collaborate with various students females body to lead the female students’ massive action against the government if the strike continues without any intervention from the government. Comrade Temikotan enjoined parents, guidance, and sponsors to use the opportunity of this period to engage their wards in different entrepreneur programs to enable them to be active and prepare them for life after final graduation.
