The Olujigba of Ijigba Community in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, Chief Luyi Rotimi has received a merit award for his numerous contributions towards the growth of his alma-mater, St. Thomas Aquinas College, Akure.
The much celebrated award was part of the activities to celebrate 70th anniversary of the great institution which started last year with skeletal activities because of the prevalent of COVID-19.
Chief Luyi Rotimi was among the 50 recipients of ACAOSA merit awards bestowed on notable Nigerians that had gone through the tutelage of the school and had served and still serving at various levels across the world for their contributions towards lifting of Aquinas College.
The ceremony was held on Thursday March 24, 2022 at the School Hall as dignitaries from all walks of life attended.
While presenting the award, the president of ACAOSA worldwide, Hon. Justice Prince O.O Olagbegi described Chief Luyi Rotimi as an embodiment of discipline and integrity who attended virtually all the meetings of the association both within and outside Ondo State.
Prince Olagbegi noted that the contributions of all the awardees to the school are highly appreciated saying that the honour is their special own ways appreciating their efforts so far.
While speaking with the Democrat News Magazine, shortly after his award and decoration, Chief Luyi Rotimi described the honour as welcome development which he said will serve as an encouragement for him to keep on contributing to his alma mater.
In his words: “I was 70 years old in January this year, I have been making my contributions to this school and I promise that I will continue to make the school my priority.
In the same way, he appreciated the committee members for the honour which he said would be cherished above all other awards he had received.
While speaking on returning of school to Mission, he said they (old students) are all ready to double their efforts in supporting Bishop Arogundade to ensure that the school is brought back to its original glory in the areas of discipline and academic excellence.
