The Wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabirin Betty Anyawu- Akeredolu has distributed Solayo kits to over 100 pregnant women of Ondo State in commemorating 2022 Internatonal Women Day .
She also charged pregnant women to embrace safe motherhood practices in order to reduce maternal and child mortality rate in the state.
Mrs Akeredolu made this known on Tuesday at Akure South Local Government Area area of the state, venue of International Women’s Day celebrations.
Mrs Akeredolu said the program was to reduce the rate at which expectant mothers go to delivery rooms without any kit and also reduce maternal mortality rate in the state.
While speaking during a health talk at the program, primary health care coordinator in Akure south local government , Dr Adeyemi-Osowe Owosehin urged expectant mothers to practise personal hygiene and exercise regularly so as to deliver their babies safely.
Owoseni stressed the importance of balanced diet for pregnant women and the need for them to visit the hospital regularly, for both ante-natal and post-natal care for a healthy pregnancy.
Some of the beneficiaries, in a chat with journalists commended the governor’s wife for the provision which they said will go a long way ameliorate their challenges.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Barr. Gbenga Olaniyi commended the efforts of Nigeria women and pointed out that their agitation will be given prompt attention at all levels.
In the same way, he appreciated the contributions of Solayo kits by Mrs. AKEREDOLU saying that it has a way to meeting the pressing needs of pregnant women in the state.
