The Commissioner one, in Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Adebusuyi Idowu Pius has commended the initiative of Ondo State Government under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on campaign against open defecation in the state.
Hon. Adebusuyi, a former member Ondo State House of Assembly from Ifedore who represented the speaker Ondo State House of Assembly, Right Hon. David Oleyelogun at the official flag-off of the campaign on Monday 21st of February 2022 at Ondo State Sport Stadium.
According to him, “Let me use this medium to thank our amiable Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Yetunde Adeyanju on right steps towards eradicating open defecation. For many years open defecation has been a serious challenge in our society.
“I want to say that the initiative is highly commendable. If you look at open defecation it has been a problem for long time in Ondo State and Nigeria, it is a way of polluting the community and apart from pollution, it aids the spread diseases and if it is curbed people will have access to healthy living.
“The government of Ondo State has done a wonderful job, the representative of the Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa made it clear that all the stakeholders must be actively involved to see the end of open defecation.
“ALGON chairman, Hon. Augustine Aloruntogbe also pointed it out in his speech, that he was ready to use grassroots approach to disseminate the information that will end of open defecation in the state.
When speaking on the roles of legislators in supporting the initiative he said: “At our level as a representative of Mr. Speaker and as a former Legislator our role is to ensure that when any executive bill that will support the eradication of open defecation is brought to the House of Assembly, as disciplined legislators it is our duty to give it accelerated passage.
Hon. Adebusuyi said that with way Ondo State government is moving on campaign against open defecation the state will meet up with UN deadline of 2025 eradication of open defecation.
