…elects new leaders through e-voting system
The Old Students’ Association of Ijapo High, Akure has elected new set of leaders that will run the association for the next four years under the leadership of Engr. Ojo Felix.
The school premises played host to eminent sons and daughters of Nigeria from within and outside the country who had passed through the great citadel of learning, for their Annual General Meeting and election of the new executive members.
However, the old students brought their wealth of experiences to bear on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as they launched electronic voting system that afforded all their members to participate across the world.
E-voting system was recommended to Nigeria government by the intelligent old Students of Ijapo High School and made their intention known to be of help to government on the process any time they are called upon.
While reeling out the guidelines of the election shortly after their AGM, Chairman Electoral Committee, Mr. Akinola Victor Omotayo said only financial members that have been accredited were eligible to vote.
He also pointed out that the old students of the school are now well placed in different professions and callings and made their impacts known in the association.
While speaking with journalists, the new Presidents of Ijapo Old Students Association, Mr. Ojo Felix expressed joy for the over whelming support he received from the members of the association which led to his election.
In the same way, he promised not to let down the confidence reposed in him stressing that he would explore all the avenues and the resources at his disposal to advance the course of the association and the school.
He pointed out that one of the aims of the association is to help the members saying that he will drive the welfare of their members.
“I will carry my people along and bring new innovations that will go down into the history in the life of the association and Ijapo High School entirely.
“On this note, I want to use this medium to call on all our members both at home and abroad to bear the matters of this association in their hearts which is the mark of genuine love for their old school.”
The new Vice President of the Old Students Association, Mr. Solomon Oluwasinaayomi said he will support the presidents to bring all the old students together and delivered on their all encompassing manifesto.
He used the medium to charge all the students of the school to be dedicated to their studies to enable them to come out in flying colours and become force to be reckoned with in the society.
In his comment, the Chairman of 2021 reunion of Ijapo High School, Mr. James Ademokoya said the reunion brought about social interactions that promote oneness among them and that it affords them opportunity to contribute toward infrastructure of the school.
He therefore charged all the old students on the need to take the association serious because of its pivotal role in proper placement of the school and the students.
Presenting her good will message, the principal of the School Mrs. Isatayo Bimbola Abike congratulated the entire Old Students of the school for the success of 2021 reunion.
She also used the medium to appreciate them for their contributions to the school in all areas so far therefore charging them not to relent in their efforts since government alone cannot do it.
“We are using the medium to call on our Old Students to rise up to the needs of our school as we all are aware that there many areas of need that the stakeholders have not touched so the old students can come in to help us.
Also in his comment, the out gone president of the association Barr. Olawale reeled out the achievements of the association under his leadership and thanked all members of their contributions and supports.
He called on the new set of the leaders to make honesty their watch word and to endeavour to carry all and sundry along in their day to day activities.
Other elected members of the association include Ojo Omolayo, Oloruntoba Jemiluyi, Omolafe Temidayo Isaac, Bukola Ogunleye, Akinbode Victor Ado, Idris Adeniyi and Olafusi Aminat.
After chains of activities they moved to International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome) where reception like carnival was held as members and their spouses were entertained with assorted foods and drinks.
It was also an opportunity for the new executive members to be sworn in and commenced a fresh tenure of office.
