Pastor Oshin Tasks Parents On Quality Children Upbringing

As schools in Ondo State have resumed a new academic term, parents and guardians have been called upon to pay quality attention to their children and wards to enable them turn out well in all areas of life.

Pastor (Mrs.) Damilola Oshin, the proprietress of Mummy’s Place Nursery & Primary School and Emplace College, Akure made this know while speaking with journalists in her office on Monday January 10, 2022.

Pastor Oshin said pivotal roles of parents cannot be overemphasized, therefore calling on them to find time for their children and wards.

In her words: “It is only God that can help this generation of children, because of their exposures; they are always on social media and many a times they are on search engine to see whatever they love to see on internet. If a child has the knowledge of God it will help him or her. The  bible says we should ‘teach a child the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it’.

“We should teach them the love of God so that they can in turn show love to one another. However, parents have pivotal roles to play in the upbringing of the children.

“It seemed to me parents have little or no time for their children whereas, there should be time to counsel them, times to oversee them, to tell them this is what is right and this is what is wrong.

“It does not matter how hard we work to gather wealth, if we do not take time to work on our children all the hard work will just go down the drain.

She also used the opportunity to advise the students to focus on their future saying that the major reason their parents send them to school is to prepare them for the future and that they should not allow today to truncate their tomorrow.

While speaking on the school academic activities for the new term, Pastor Oshin said they have designed mechanism in line with Ondo State Ministry of Education to cover the syllabus meticulously.

According to her: “In Mummy’s Place and Emplace College we have put all the necessary machinery in place for smooth resumption and to give our pupils the best of education and quality moral upbringing.

She said the only way out of bully that is happening in some boarding schools is to teach the children the need to fear God, which she said, will help them to value life and their fellow brothers and sisters.

“In our school here, we have taught our students to care for one another over the years. The culture of love is being inculcated into our students. Whenever we have a new student in our school, other students in the class will rally round to ensure that he/she gets along. They will help such student to complete his/her notes up to date.

As regards Covid-19 Protocol she said the school under her management ensure strict adherence to the rules and regulations guiding it saying that the virus is still very much around.

She pointed out that regular washing of hands with soap, use of sanitizer; face mask and use of inferred thermometer to test temperature are being adhered to religiously.
