EZE NDIGBO CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY IN GRAND STYLE

COMMENDS AKEREDOLU, HOST COMMUNITY

The Eze Ndigbo of Ondo State, Eze (Sir) Gregory Iloehika rolled out rums on Saturday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his Igweship as highly placed people across the country covered to felicitate with him.

St. Dominic Secondary School field, Akure, Ondo State capital, adjacent to his palace venue of the celebration was filled to capacity courtesy of a well loved igwe of Ondo State, Iloehika.

While speaking with journalists, Eze (Sir) Gregory Iloehika who was full of joy, thanked God for the success of the event and for successful rulership for the past 10 years.

He used the opportunity to thank Mr. Governor and his wife for their benevolence towards all members Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Ondo State saying that they have not had it so good before now.

He therefore promised to use his good office to continue to advance the course of humanity and entire Igbos in Ondo State and beyond.

In the same way, he noted because many of their sons and daughters were born in Ondo State and did not know the culture and tradition of Igbos they decided to display their culture for posterity sake.

Also in her speech, the wife of Igwe of Ondo State, Lady (Mrs.) Florence Iloehika said: “Today we are celebrating 10th anniversary on the throne and the foundation that takes care of widows. We set up this foundation to make all our widows happy and we have been meeting their needs by the grace of God for the past 10 years.

“We want to use this medium to thank all our guests from all walks of life and our host community, starting from Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, His wife and all the respected traditional rulers for their love for all the Igbos in Ondo State.

“Women are the pillar of their families so I want to use this opportunity to charge our women to support their husband and pray for the good of their children and the society at large.

On his part, Chief Ibanu Igwueka, Odataoduora 1, who once served as apprentice under Eze Iloehika said: “Igwe is my boss, I stayed with him for some years and he established me. We are here today to celebrate with him for his good characters and impacts he made on many lives.

“When you are Igwe or Eze Ndigbo for 10 years, it shows the people love you and this is the reason we invited people from Lagos and other parts of the states in Nigeria to rejoice with him and his family.

“It is my prayer for him that God will grant him more grace and enablement as he is purposed to bless more people and to live long on the throne.

“Today is also an avenue to celebrate our culture. What is happening here is what usually makes us happy in the village.

In his comment the president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Ondo State, Chief (Barr.) Inno-Chucks Ezechiefoh described the event as victory at last considering the challenges they went through before the day.

He pointed that the Igbos in Ondo State are not competing with their host community rather they are contributing their quotas to the development of their various host communities.

Ezechiefoh therefore called on all and sundry to support their amiable Igwe as he is poised to take Igbos group to a place of honour in Ondo State.

In his comment, Secretary to the Palace of Igwe, Chief I.K Anoliebu congratulated Igwe on the 10th coronation anniversary and thanked the people of Ondo State for their support for Igwe and prayed that God will grant him more fruitful years ahead.

Some of the notable people who congratulated Igwe at the event in their chat with journalists including Eze Ndigbo of Ijesaland and Osun State, Eze Wilfred Ozo, Eze Ndigbo of Ikare, Chief Pius Prince Nnamani Sunday, Prince Chijoke Nmbanifo, Obonor Anannor, Chief Akegobi Amobi, Akomojikago 1 of Omuland, Chief Anjenus Nnabobo, Chief Akajugo 1,Chairman Enugu, I.k Ogbwu and Chairman Eboyni, High Chief Terry Eze.

Others are Oba designated of Yoruba Community in Enugu, Alhaji Abdulazeez Adebayo, Abudbakar Zambo, Seriki Hausa in Enugu State, High Chief Stephen Anaku, Olowu gburugburu of Ondo State Chief Ajunwan Sunday, Chairman Anambra Mr. Benedict Obinike, High Chief Anthony Ojukwu. and a host of others.

In their good will messages they congratulated Igwe on the success his anniversary and for the peaceful reign and eventful 10 years.

They also prayed that God will continue to give him wisdom to galvanize development of his people.
